Dr. Ehab Abdallah serves as the Managing Partner and MD Psychiatrist at Synergy Mental Health and Wellness Integrated. A distinguished professional, he earned his medical degree from Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt, and completed his psychiatry residency training at West Virginia University. Dr. Abdallah holds triple board certifications in General Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison (Psychosomatic) Psychiatry, and Addiction Psychiatry and Medicine.

An expert in addiction medicine, Dr. Abdallah is experienced in treating psychiatric illness for those with complex medical and psychiatric conditions. Dr. Abdallah is an invaluable asset to our team with a commitment to providing quality care that is reflected in his unwavering dedication to the well-being of his patients.

Dr. Abdallah is also fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry with the University of Arizona where he teaches medical students and residents.

Dr. Akshay Lokhande holds double board certification in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from Grant Medical College in Mumbai, India, and completed his psychiatry internship at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington DC. Dr. Lokhande pursued his General Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he served as the Chief Fellow in his final year. Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Southern California.

With extensive research experience in neuroscience and psychiatry, Dr. Lokhande has contributed to peer-reviewed journals. His treatment approach integrates biological, psychological, and social elements, delivering compassionate and evidence-based care through medication management and psychotherapy. Dr. Lokhande has expertise in addressing a diverse range of psychiatric conditions.

In his leisure time, he enjoys family moments, cooking, traveling, and hiking. Fluent in English, Hindi, and Marathi languages, Dr. Lokhande is dedicated to excellence and strives to enhance lives. Nicole Morin, MMS, PA-C, is a nationally certified physician assistant committed to delivering comprehensive and collaborative care. Graduating with honors in Health and Human Sciences from the University of Southern California in 2019, she later earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern University in 2022 after relocating to Arizona.

With a background in various medical settings, Nicole is passionate about providing integrated care using evidence-based medicine. She advocates for her patients with an understanding and compassionate approach, ensuring their well-being is prioritized.

Alexandra “Lexy” has been a psychiatric provider 2020, working with children, adolescents, and adults. Lexy has worked in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona studying psychology and Spanish. Prior to attending PA school, she first completed a master’s in biomedical sciences at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. Lexy completed her PA master’s degree at Chapman University in Orange, California which is where she found her passion for mental and behavioral health, working in many settings to include drug and alcohol rehabilitation, acute inpatient, and adolescent psychiatry. Lexy is experienced in treating patients 10 and up.

During her free time, she enjoys being active outdoors, exploring Phoenix’s growing culinary scene, and spending time with her family, friends, and French Bulldog.

Zachary “Zach” Nussbaum earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Biological Sciences from Arizona State University while working in emergency medicine as a physician record assistant. He then pursued a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, where he discovered his passion for treating addiction, mental health, and behavioral health during his inpatient service rotation.

In his free time, Zach enjoys playing ice hockey as a goaltender, watching movies, and spending time with his family and three cats.

Vanessa Plumley, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a dedicated commitment to holistic care. Vanessa commenced her mental health journey in 2015 at Change Point, a level one psychiatric hospital in Show Low, AZ. Starting as a paraprofessional psychiatric aid, she developed a profound passion for mental health.

Vanessa obtained her Applied Science Practical Nursing Certificate in 2017 and earned her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing in 2018 from Northland Pioneer College. In September 2021, she graduated from Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky with a Master of Science in Nursing/Psychiatric Mental Health.

Throughout her career, Vanessa has worked with diverse populations, including those struggling with substance abuse disorders, mental health disorders, and serious mental illness (SMI). Her experience includes roles as a Licensed Practice Nurse and Registered Nurse at Valley Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Hospital in Phoenix.

Vanessa strongly believes in the interconnectedness of mental and physical health, aiming to guide individuals toward a balanced well-being. Her holistic approach incorporates the latest evidence-based research into treatment plans. Michael has more than 2 decades of experience in Psychiatric emergency room, outpatient, and in-patient nursing, and 16 years of nursing experience with a variety of populations. Michael has been board certified as a psychiatric nurse since 2016 and applies evidence-based concepts into his practice for a wide range of psychiatric challenges.

Michael focuses on a healthy blend of coping strategies and life-style habits combined with treatment and principles of health. Amy Sword is a compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Clinical Supervisor, and Clinical Director at Synergy Mental Health and Wellness. She provides clinical supervision to associate-licensed therapists, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and ethical social work principles.

Amy’s therapeutic approach blends Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Mindfulness, and Polyvagal Theory, tailored to each client’s needs. She creates a safe, empathetic space for clients to explore emotions, navigate challenges, and work toward their goals.

Certified as a Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-I) and a level one Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Practitioner, Amy believes “you are the expert of your own life” and fosters a non-judgmental, collaborative space for clients to achieve meaningful goals.

With diverse experience across settings, including schools, crisis units, and outpatient/inpatient care, Amy has worked with individuals of all ages, addressing issues like anxiety, ADHD, depression, PTSD, and substance use. She is also passionate about Compassion Fatigue Prevention for healthcare, behavioral health, and education professionals.

Paula Kaye Martin, LISAC, holds a master’s in counseling and a master’s in leadership, bringing over three decades of experience to her counseling practice. Since 1990, Paula has provided services to individuals, families, children, and groups.

Guided by the Strengths-Based Philosophy, Paula empowers clients by leveraging their existing strengths to enhance their quality of life. With a versatile skill set, she employs various modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs. Paula has been a licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor since 2004 and is a Certified Trauma-Informed Professional.

Kathryn Kruithoff, LMSW graduated from Arizona State University with her Master of Social Work in 2019. She has worked in many environments with many different types of patients and feels she has learned something from each one. Kathryn operates from a client centered approach, striving to provide ethical, individualized care which empowers you to access your highest self. Kathryn truly believes that you are the expert on yourself and you already have the answers you need for healing and success within you. Sometimes you just need a little support and guidance when trauma, grief, anxiety, or other stressors start overwhelming your inner wisdom. Kathryn strongly believes in your ability to find healing and wholeness and offers support through EMDR, DBT, MI, Expressive Arts therapies, Somatic Processing, Attachment Theory, Ecological Systems Theory, Strengths Based, and Holistic Approaches.

Kathryn has a strong interest in Evidenced Based approaches and applications to treatment. She is a co-author of two research papers exploring best practices to provide support to those with Substance Use Disorders. Kathryn also believes strongly in trauma informed care and has traveled to Moldova twice to help educate social workers there about trauma informed approaches to treatment. Additionally, Kathryn has fully divested from Diet Culture and takes an anti-diet and HAES approach to treatment; recognizing that intersectionality of identities is an important factor when discussing our relationships to our own bodies and how we relate to others. Kathryn has completed several training programs to learn best practices to treatment approaches to disordered eating, body shame, and eating disorder diagnosis and treatment and is currently in process of becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

Kathryn is committed to helping you succeed on your journey of healing and wellness; emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Kathryn is ready to provide her expertise in the areas of trauma resolution, substance abuse recovery, disordered eating, body shame, foster care and adoption issues, racial trauma healing and identity formation, and narcissistic abuse recovery. Kathryn has specific knowledge and expertise in the area of identity trauma; specifically, in regards to how our bodies can draw the ire of others due to skin color, neurodivergence, chronic illness, and body shape/size. Sometimes our bodies don’t reflect a societal standard of true worth. This can lead to mental, emotional, and spiritual turmoil; often manifesting as trauma. Resolution of this trauma and understanding of our inherent worth and value sets us on an irreversible path of healing and wholeness. It is in this area that Kathryn has been most gifted with the skills and capacity to help guide to you to freedom and peace.
