Asking for help is often the hardest step. Once you’re here, the mechanics get a lot simpler. SMHWI is an integrated outpatient psychiatric practice: board-certified psychiatrists, licensed therapists, and a nursing team working inside the same walls, inside the same chart, inside the same plan for you.
That matters because most mental health care in this country is fragmented. A primary care doctor starts an antidepressant, a therapist starts talk therapy in a different office, and nobody is actually looking at the whole picture. At SMHWI, your psychiatric evaluation, your medication, your counseling and therapy, your TMS, your Spravato, your IV ketamine, and your addiction care are all the same team talking to each other.
Services are available at our clinics in Scottsdale, Tempe, and Glendale, Arizona, and Rockwall, Texas. Many are also offered by secure telehealth within each clinician’s licensing state. If something you need isn’t a fit for outpatient care, we tell you honestly and help you find the right level.

The full outpatient psychiatric spectrum: comprehensive and same-day psychiatric evaluations, medication management, TMS therapy, Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray, IV ketamine, counseling and therapy, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and addiction psychiatry with dual diagnosis care. Every service is delivered inside one integrated practice so care is coordinated across providers rather than fragmented across unrelated referrals.
No. SMHWI is an outpatient psychiatric practice and most patients self-refer by requesting an evaluation through our Become a Patient portal. If your primary care physician recommends a specific service, we can coordinate with them, but a referral is not required.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who diagnoses mental health conditions and can prescribe medication, order labs, and deliver interventional treatments such as TMS and Spravato. A therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or psychologist) delivers talk therapy and skills-based treatment. At SMHWI, both work under the same roof — your psychiatrist and your therapist coordinate as one team.
Most new patients are seen within one to two weeks of requesting an evaluation. If your situation is escalating and cannot wait, our same-day psychiatric evaluation service is available at participating locations. In a true emergency, call 911 or 988.
