Dr. Roland Segal, a distinguished psychiatrist, holds the role of Managing Partner and MD Psychiatrist at Synergy Mental Health and Wellness Integrated. Graduating from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, he pursued his general psychiatry training at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Segal further refined his skills through a forensic psychiatry fellowship at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine.

Dr. Segal has more than 10 years of clinical, administrative, executive and forensic experience. With double board certification in General and Forensic Psychiatry, Dr. Segal brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. He served as the Chief Medical Officer at Valley Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, president of the Arizona Psychiatric Society, chair of the legislative committee and a member of multiple state and national boards, committees and organizations. Dr. Segal is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, where he regularly teaches medical students and residents.

Dr. Segal serves as a psychiatry expert consultant for a number of superior and regional courts including Salt River, Maricopa and Yuma County; city governments including Phoenix, Lake Havasu and Mesa; and organizations including the United Postal Service, Social Security Administration, Immigration Health Services, US Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security.

Kari Lahoe, PMHNP,

Kari Lahoe is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner treating patients across the lifespan. She graduated from Wilkes University with a Master’s degree of Science in Nursing with over 29 years of healthcare experience. Her background includes a variety of experiences in travel nursing, critical care, perioperative services, and inpatient/outpatient clinics. In addition, she has cared for patients of many diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic settings.

Kari describes herself as being a highly receptive person who strives to provide her patients with strong advocacy, compassion, and hope. Her approach to patient care is collaborative, patient-centered, holistic, and evidence-based. Besides mental and emotional health, her professional interests include integrative treatments, lifestyle modification, nutrition, and supplements. With passion she focuses on treating those suffering with substance misuse, PTSD, ADHD, Bipolar, and human trafficking survivors. She would love to help assist you in reaching your personal goals and gain a healthier, happier quality of life.

On a personal note, Kari enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter, cooking, painting, and loving on her 2 Aussiedoodles.

Trisha is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience treating patients across the lifespan. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and has worked in a variety of care settings, including hospitals, home care nursing, and outpatient procedures. With over 13 years of diverse nursing experience, she has developed a deep commitment to supporting individuals on their mental, physical, and emotional health journeys.

Trisha’s approach to care is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and advocacy. She prioritizes creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where patients feel comfortable and empowered to share their experiences and actively participate in their treatment journey. Throughout her education and career, she has gained valuable experience conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments, formulating differential diagnoses, and collaborating with individuals to develop effective treatment plans.

She believes in the intrinsic connection between mind and body and is passionate about integrating nutrition and physical health into mental health care. Trisha is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing mental health challenges and remains committed to ongoing professional development, staying current with the latest advancements in psychiatric research and practice.

Esther Holden, MSW, LCSW, is a seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over three decades of experience in the field. She earned her Master of Social Work from Boston College and has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive treatment to individuals, groups, and families.

Throughout her 35-year career, Esther has developed expertise in addressing a wide range of issues including addiction, domestic violence, trauma, and mental health concerns. Her professional journey led her to New York City where she spent 25 years deeply involved in both clinical practice and education.

During her tenure in New York City, Esther served as an educator at Concordia College, where she taught a course on “Violence in the Family.” She played a pivotal role in critical public health crises such as the crack/cocaine epidemic and the AIDS pandemic, offering essential services including pre and post-test counseling and AIDS prevention training.

Beyond direct clinical practice, Esther has conducted training programs for prominent corporations including JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Sony. Her workshops focused on stress management, work-life balance, grief, and single parenting in the aftermath of significant events like 9/11.

Esther’s leadership extends to her roles as Director of several Social Service Organizations, where she provided supervision to staff pursuing clinical licensure. Her driving passion lies in empowering individuals to achieve their full potential by addressing past traumas and fostering personal growth. Ian Hume is a dedicated and experienced licensed mental health counselor with over 11 years of professional practice in the field. Originally from Maryland, Ian has called the Phoenix area home for more than 15 years, where he lives with his wife, three stepchildren, and their two rescue dogs. In his personal time, Ian enjoys staying active and engaged through family activities, walking his dogs, going to the gym, watching sporting events, reading, and playing video games. A former aspiring golfer, Ian’s participation in a high school tournament alongside Tiger Woods led him to refocus his aspirations toward his true passion—helping others.

Ian’s commitment to mental health advocacy is deeply personal, as bipolar disorder runs in his family. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland – Baltimore County and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. His professional development is a continuous priority, as he regularly attends conferences and seminars to stay informed about the latest advancements in counseling approaches.

Over the course of his 15-year career in mental health, Ian has gained diverse experience across various settings. He has worked in a psychiatric hospital, completed an internship at a homeless shelter, served as a counselor at a correctional agency, and was a lead substance abuse specialist on an integrated team addressing both mental health and serious medical conditions. Additionally, Ian has been a lead counselor on five Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams, supporting clients with severe mental illnesses, and has also provided care in private practice.

Ian specializes in treating clients with trauma and negative life experiences, utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). His dedication to improving the lives of those facing mental health challenges is unwavering, and he finds immense fulfillment in helping clients navigate their journeys toward healing and growth.
